5. Eating Disorders Basics - 2 CEU Hrs. $6 - This course gives a brief overview of the complexities and treatment strategies of eating disorders. Anorexia nervosa, bulimia, and binge eating are discussed as well as research findings and research directions for these very serious issues.

This course was developed using the Technical Assistance Publication, Competencies for Substance Abuse Treatment Clinical Supervisors, from the US Department of Health and Human Services. The purpose is to present a competency based model to provide a framework for understanding, learning, and implementing the multiple functions and tasks of clinical supervisors. Although the material was developed for thesubstance abuse field, this course is recommended for supervisors in various mental healthdisciplines.
Co-Occurring Disorders - 40 standard ceus/40 nbcc ceus - $120. The course gives students and professionals a more in-depth understanding of co-occurring substance use and mental disorders including how common they are, the multiple problems they create, and the impact they have on treatment and treatment outcome. The material includes valuable appendices which provide practical guidance for counselors and therapists and give an excellent overview of various medications including samples of screening and assessment instruments.

Quantum Units Education has just hired a new ceu instructor to meet the growing needs and demands of our participants. Due to the requests of participants to add more courses and to expand our program into the mental health realm we have brought on board Patricia Hocking - Walker. Below is a bit about Patricia.
Patricia has a teaching credential and a Master’s of Science degree in Psychology from Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo. Her experience includes counseling families and individuals in a university clinic, a county mental health facility, and a youth residential group home. She has also worked as an educator for eighteen years focusing on at-risk individuals. In addition to teaching multiple subjects including drug and alcohol studies, human sexuality, mental health, and conflict resolution skills, Patricia has co-facilitated substance abuse counseling groups and regularly advises students in areas such as family and peer relationships, interpersonal struggles, and lifestyle choices.Patricia is married to a social work supervisor, and has two beautiful boys, two loveable dogs, and a precious kitty. She enjoys reading, music, sports, working out, and supporting her boys in their various activities. Patricia is delighted to expand her experiences and bring her knowledge and expertise to QUE clientele.

This is another excellent public domain Treatment Improvement Protocol (TIP) manual compiled by SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration). It presents information to assist alcohol and drug counselors and other treatment providers to work with adults who have histories of childhood abuse or neglect and adults who abuse or who are at risk for abusing their own children.
