At QUE, we use the term ceu (continuing education unit) interchangeably with contact hours, ceus, ceu and ce. All
ceu certificates issued state 'contact hours'. All courses in our program clearly state the number of contact hours you will earn upon completion. We use two different standards for determining ceu clock hours for each course:
1.NBCC (National Board of Certified Counselors)guidelines: Clock hours for those that fall under NBCC guidelines are determined based upon a flat rate of reading 4,000 words of text for every one clock hour of credit. If you are renewing a license based upon NBCC approval you will need to base your hours on the NBCC hours listed next to each course.
All other renewals will be using the contact hours based upon the guidelines in #2 below.
3-5 pages of reading = 1 CEH (continuing education hour) 3-5 posttest questions per CEH (continuing education hour)
Under NAADAC guidelines, we have considered varying complexity, with more technical courses staying within the 3-5 page per CEH (continuing education hour) range. More than the suggested 3-5 pager-per-CEH (continuing education hour) may be necessary when lengthy case histories or dialogues are used.
A reasonable amount of credit is also allowed for time involved in testing, making payment and completion of the required post evaluation.
CEU (Continuing Education Unit) Examples:
1) A Licensed Social Worker needs 36 continuing education hours to renew his/her license. The social worker completes a 5 hour ceu course on 'Ethics'. The social worker now has 31 ceu hours left to complete in order to renew his/her license.
2) An NBCC licensee, LPC, will take the same Ethics course as the above social worker, but based upon NBCC guidelines, this course for the LPC licensee is valued at 3 ceu hours.
All ceu certificates awarded clearly state the number of ceu hours earned based upon the type of license and will clearly state any inclusive hours such as ethics or hiv/aids. For example: Sample Ceu (Continuing Education Unit) Certificate

CEU Certificates
A personalized ceu certificate will be issued no later than 24 hours after receipt of your passing (70%) exam and receipt of payment. Electronic ceu certificates (email and fax) are issued twice daily - early am and late pm Pacific Standard Time. Please contact us if you do not receive your electronic ceu certificate in a timely manner so that we may immediately issue you a new one.
The date on your ceu certificate reflects the date you pass the exam, not your payment date. Therefore, we encourage you to complete your testing before you worry about making payment.
There is never an extra charge for multiple copies of certificates should you ever need them.
Evidence-based Best Practice

may submit payment anytime after completing a course – immediately after, a week later or weeks later. We keep all exams on file until payment has been received at which time your certificates will be issued immediately.

We don't think you will find an easier format for online ceus than the one we have created. There is no password, no sign in, no registration and no prepayments required to access our ceu courses. All material, including exams are freely available. You submit payment after you have achieved a passing grade of 70% or higher on your electronic exam. Just follow the four simple steps below in order to complete an online course.

2. Read the text and answer the test questions from step 1
3. Take the electronic exam - enter your answers electronically from step 2.
