CEU Course Description
There is currently a push within the health care system to incorporate specific treatment options for schizophrenia spectrum disorders (SSD) that may help improve patient outcomes. One such treatment option is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for psychosis (CBTp). With that in mind, health care professionals should be familiar with CBTp. This course reviews the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's (SAMHSA's) text on CBTp to build awareness among health care professionals so they may work to effectively care for patients suffering from SSD.
Author: This publication was authored by Sarah Kopelovich, PhD, with contributions from Monica Ramirez Basco, PhD, Meaghan Stacy, PhD, Harry Sivec, PhD, and Tania Lecomte, PhD. This written document is based in part on the thoughtful input of the participants of May 2019 Expert Meeting on Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Persons with Schizophrenia Spectrum Disorders, which was convened in Rockville, Maryland, hosted by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
