CE Course Description

Agitation is an acute behavioral emergency requiring immediate intervention.  Verbal de-escalation is usually the key to engaging the patient and helping them become an active partner in their evaluation and treatment.  This CE course details the proper foundations for appropriate training for de-escalation and provides intervention guidelines, using the “10 domains of de-escalation.”

CE Course Objectives

  1. Explain the main objectives when working with an agitated patient.
  2. Investigate the body language the clinician should use with an agitated patient.
  3. Examine ways to agree with a patient.
  4. Scrutinize the distance the clinician should maintain between themselves and the patient.
  5. Identify the most essential skill at verbal de-escalation.
