CEU Course Description
The goal of any intervention is to lower the likelihood of damage that could result from continued use of substances. This short CEU course describes brief interventions, therapies, cognitive-behavioral therapy, strategic interactional therapies, humanistic and existential therapies, psychodynamic therapy, family therapy, and time-limited group therapy.

1. Describe the characteristics and goals of brief intervention and therapy for substance use disorders.
2. Outline the components of the FRAMES approach to brief interventions.
3. Identify core elements of brief intervention screening and assessment.
4. Differentiate between Brief CBT, Brief Strategic/Interactional Therapies, and Brief Humanistic and Existential Therapies.
5. Evaluate the benefits of brief family therapy and time-limited group therapies for those with substance abuse issues.
