CE Course Description
In the last few decades, obesity has become an increasingly more common condition that affects 100 million adults in the United States. Obesity contributes to many interrelated health conditions, psychosocial issues, and financial burden. Lack of knowledge from the general public and healthcare professionals causes weight-related bias because many people are not aware of the causes of obesity and the challenges those living with obesity experience when trying to improve their health. This course will help nurses understand what obesity is and identify risk factors and causes that contribute to obesity. We will identify common comorbidities that occur with obesity, as well as other consequences of the disease. Current treatments, including newly approved GLP-1 agonists, will be reviewed.
